Redefining state‑of‑the‑art graphics editing
Graphite is an in-development vector and raster graphics editor that's free and open source. It is powered by a node graph compositor that fuses layers with nodes and brings a unique procedural approach to your 2D design workflow.
Red Dress — Illustration made with the help of procedurally placing hundreds of circles.
Valley of Spires — Vector art made with the Pen and Gradient tools without touching the node graph.
Procedural String Lights — Drawing of a tree adorned by reusable, auto-placed light bulbs along the wire path made using this node graph.

Graphite today public alpha
Presently, Graphite is a lightweight offline web app with features primarily oriented around procedural vector graphics editing.
Graphite tomorrow
One app to rule them all
Stop jumping between programs. Planned features will make Graphite a first-class design tool for all these disciplines. (Listed by priority.)
Powerful proceduralism
Graphite is the first and only graphic design package to offer procedural vector editing.
Proceduralism lets you create sophisticated design elements that are easy to edit and reuse. The holiday string lights shown below are built from a simple group of nodes, allowing you to effortlessly reshape the wire and update the bulb appearance and spacing. Click here to explore this demo and try dragging the wire layer's points with the Path tool ().

Support the mission
You can help realize Graphite's ambitious vision of building the ultimate 2D creative tool. Graphite is built by a small, dedicated crew of volunteers in need of the resources to grow.
Taking shape
All you've come to expect from a professional vector graphics editor. Now readily accessible in your browser.
Style shapes with strokes, fills, and gradients. Mix layers with blend modes. Then export as an image or SVG.

Graphite progress report (Q1 2024)
Graphite is a new 2D vector graphics editor bringing a modern, nondestructive approach to creative workflows with node-based procedural generation. The project is currently three years into development, with a focus on streamlining the creative process for procedural vector artwork. See the roadmap for a more in-depth summary of the goals for 2024 and beyond.
Graphite internships: announcing participation in GSoC 2024
Calling Rust and computer graphics developers: spend your summer contributing to open source and get paid by the Google Summer of Code program. We are excited to announce our first year participating as a mentoring organization in GSoC 2024. Interested prospective applicants should get involved right away and prepare proposals by the April 2 deadline.
